Roma Turf Club update

A Roma Turf Club update regarding the TAB status of the 2024 Roma Cup meeting.

The RTC has been advised by Racing Queensland that due to the significant downturn in wagering in the current financial situation, a decision has been made to revoke the TAB status of a number of Country TAB Saturday meetings, one of which is the Roma Cup meeting.

The Club has pursued and is pursuing all avenues to have this decision overturned. The committee has had lengthy discussions about prizemoney levels and possible loss of income to industry participants and will be putting in place procedures to ensure a minimum loss of prizemoney for the Cup meeting. Given the meeting will still have Country Cups and Country Stampede qualifier status, there will still be an amount of industry prestige for the Roma Cup.

The RTC committee at its recent meeting also decided to value add to the winter carnivals meetings an additional $2000 for each race for the July and August meetings. By doing this, the Club is keeping face with the local industry participants. Promotion for the Rugby Race day in June is fully underway with some exciting new upgrades including some GPS junior rugby and improved Fashions on the Field event.

Looking forward to seeing patrons support the future events of the Roma Turf Club.
